Health Coach For Hire

Welcome to my blog! I am new at this so bear with me as I learn, and I always accept constructive feedback! As this site grows, you will find information, tips, recipes, success stories and all things related to total body health and wellness. I hope you come back often as this blog will always have changing content.

2013 is literally upon us and that means many of you will begin making your annual New Year's Resolutions! Many of you will also have resolutions that include health and wellness. I can help with that. I am a Health Coach and I am excited to announce that outside of offering my free community based classes, I will now be offering one-on-one services!

What is Health Coaching?
• Developing a personalized plan to identify and reach your goals
 • One-on-one (or you can form your own “team” with family and friends)
 • On the phone, email or in person
 • It is about total wellbeing, inside and out; body, mind and soul
 • Knowledge and skill building
 • Welcomes, inspires and nurtures each individual to reach their goals

 How often do I meet with my health coach?
 • That depends on you and your needs, but the goal is to help you develop the skills to be completely independent of outside help. It is recommended to “check-in” weekly.

What incentives are there to meeting a health coach and where do we meet?
• Again, that depends on you. Your health coach hopes that through Health Coaching you will have better health and better results at your next physical with your physician.
 • Meetings can be held wherever is most comfortable for you.

 What can I expect during my first session and what information is offered?
 This is another thing that depends on what you want to get out of this. Below is a typical first session:
 • Direct assistance in setting and documenting health and wellness goals
 • Assistance in the collection of biometric data such as height, weight, blood pressure, etc. and information on how these numbers effect your health as they relate to your goals
• Your health coach is knowledgeable in nutrition, weight management, stress management, exercise, smoking cessation resources, cancer/disease prevention, personal development and more.

 What is the cost of Health Coaching?
• That depends on you, your goals and needs
• Prices start at $10 and varies based off distance traveled and time intensity

You may be wondering what qualifies me to be your health coach. Here is some background information on me:
I have a true passion in health. At a very young age I knew I wanted to work in health. When I began my degree at the University of Utah I declared a Pre-Nursing major. I LOVED my courses. I had seriously excellent instructors and loved every minute I spent at school (yes, even the hours of study in Marriot Library during Finals Week). After some time, I realized that my primary interests were in keeping others healthy and preventing illness and disease, rather than helping those whom were already ill. I officially changed my major and was accepted to the department of Health Promotion and Education. It was here that I found instructors that had the same passions in health promotion that I had. I still keep in contact with many of them today. I will never forget walking across the stage on graduation day and the head of my department shaking my hand saying "I know you will be back" and I don't think he is wrong. Within weeks I began looking into graduate programs...

Besides my degree, passion and enthusiasm for this subject, I want to assure you that I only use information that I know to be correct- or at the very least research based and peer reviewed (this means that other professionals in the field agree with the research that was conducted and its results). I WANT you to reach your goals. I WANT you to feel healthy and feel happy with where you are at in your life.
